In a pond near you…

In a pond near you…

You will find “Be the Lotus Flower” on the Polarity album

Be the Lotus Flower

Musings on the changes in priorities the occur as one gets older and deciding that what was importance once no longer is to the point of saying, “here’s what you should do (now)”. The Lotus Flower seems to be a favoured symbol of a life well lived while suffering the misery that it seems to be subjected to on a daily basis. As far as the song does, I have to admit that I like the thumping of the bass guitar.

Be the Lotus Flower

Instrumental Intro

       Bm                                                    G
Do all your suits have the proper cuff?
                 Em                                        Am
And your manicured home, is it good enough?
C                             Adim7
Will you retire well?
B7                                          Em                        D
Are you suitably afraid of hell
Did you get drunk at a proper school?
Do the right people call you cool?
Does your car growl as required?
Do you work hard to be desired?

The look of things gives you pleasure
Do you see them as another man’s treasure?
Her neckline beckons you to stare
But you don’t know her. You wouldn’t dare.

How many times have you be told
To take these things and cast them aside
Hear your heart and behold
The wisdom that you will find inside

D  D7  G   C  G7

C                         D
Let the mud sit cold
G                         Em
Let the water run sour
       C                                    E
And, let your love of life unfold
D        D7         G            C   G7
Be the Lotus Flower

Renew yourself each day
With your everlasting power
Let all troubles fade away              E

Then, you will be the Lotus Flower
