Walking with Giselle

Let me start with this. My Lady's name is Giselle. She is Brazilian and in Portuguese: 1) the G is very soft like in 'massage', 2) the 's' is said like 'z' and 3) the 'e' on the end of her name is not silent. "GeeZelleh"

We lived for a year+ alongside a city park in Boise, Idaho with tons of green space. It is springtime and there are miles of walking paths along the river. It is a genuine treat to walk with her there - or anywhere. The words came together quickly and are all a true reflection of "us". But, the beautiful thing is how the music of this song turned out to be so upbeat and happy. The chords change quickly in the verse and show down in the chorus where they sound like a standard progression but are a bit more complex than that. I love this song. Giselle is named in the title but not mentioned in the song. That is so the song can be for everyone.

In the top photo, we are poolside, 'thinking' of walking. But, we DID go! Many times!!!

Walking with Giselle

E                   G#m            C#m            C#m7
Green grass underfoot; all around, summer air
F#m              F#m7               B                B7
Walking to nowhere and neither of us care

Fingers entwined, there’s nothing on our minds
We say little somethings from time to time

Tell a joke, a story, something we  should know
Something that happened maybe twenty years ago

Rainbows and flowers, sunshine and showers
Laughter and singing for hours and hours

E            Bdim7            C#7            F#7
B                          E                            F#               B
Sometimes my mind will wander off so very far
E            F#                 B           G#m                    C#m       C#m7
Today I only marvel at how beautiful you are

It’s a perfect day to walk with you
The best thing in the World to do

People are strolling by, some say  “hello”
There’s something about today, we won’t let it go

Today is a day we didn’t know would be
I’ll never forget this. The best of you and me

I turn to you; you turn to me, we both smile
I’ve known you forever, or maybe just a while

Chorus

You stop me and kiss me, you don’t tell me why
You smile and you whisper “I’ll love you ‘til I die”
