Some things about the Earth are not messed up.

But, some things are just weird.

It’s on the “Fathers & Sons” album.

Goop Doopy Bop

Musically, the trigger for this song was White Rabbit by Jeff and his Airplane. Can you even tell? It’s hard to say what the first seed for lyrics is, sometimes. I recall on this song, that I was just rattling off lines that rhyme. Once in that mode, a topic emerges and if (un)lucky enough, there is enough for a song. The result: a rant (again) about all the things wrong in the World - well some of them, and then… I need an offsetting solution. With the World being a depressing mess, what should you do about it. Two bridges offer ideas. You could try to fix the World but, when seems futile, do this:

Instrumental Verse
Bm
No paintings on the walls.
F#
No music in the halls
G
Silence when duty calls
F#
Too many shopping malls

No money in our pockets
Spend it all on rockets
Courtrooms choked with dockets
Itchy, red eye sockets

Colour coded garbage bins
Filled with useless vitamins
Sanctioned theft always wins
And money pardons sins

The President’s a liar
Brags that he’s for hire
Prices going higher
Everything’s on fire

D                      A
So, what to do for a lark?
A7                    D
Get yourself a stuffed RC cat (RC = radio controlled, in case you… )
Bm                    E
And take it for a run at the local dog park
G                       F#7
Watch chaos unfold in ten seconds flat

Instrumental Bridge

She keeps her face in a jar
Eyes cold as ice
Always nice from far
But so far from nice

The gods are not judges
They ask for only love
Feel their gentle nudges
drown or rise above

So, just for fun, go downtown
With a 12” kielbasa down your pants
With your lady, you take a walk around
And if she smiles, it’s romance.

With instrumental accompaniment…
Oh boopy doopy bop
It’ll never stop
Chingaling ding nip nop
It’s all we got
